The Tengri Star-Khanate claims the galaxy as the Stellar Steppe. Every conquest leaves tribute, prisoners, defectors, debts, songs, and scars behind.
Conquer the stars from a moving war-city.
Space Mongols is a shipboard space opera set aboard the Karakorum Drift, a hollowed asteroid palace and warship at the heart of the Tengri Star-Khanate. Half a million people live under clan law while the Great Khan's armada pushes into the Golden Reach. Pick a card and step into the pressure.
A whole empire in one warship.
The Drift holds roughly half a million people inside a vertical deck hierarchy. Rank decides where you sleep, who sees you, and what kind of trouble can reach you.
Clan is family, unit, neighborhood, and religion. Losing it can be worse than death, and every character knows where they stand in the order.
The Broken Wheel, the Sump, the Horse Decks, and the agri-domes turn empire-scale lore into places where a scene can actually start.
Each character card is a route into the setting: command, faith, music, exile, labor, underworld politics, rivalry, and war.
The war is already moving.
Khanate against Concordat
The Helios Concordat opposes Khanate expansion with drone swarms, treaties, Xal psychic war-priests, and soldiers who know exactly how expendable they are.
Clan law against the lower decks
The Sump, the clanless, wolf-kin, Coyoti, tribute-born workers, and sponsored defectors expose the gap between Khanate honor and Khanate reality.
Old fire against clean sky
The Mönh Gal burn the war dead where they fall. The Blue Sky priesthood wants order, homeworld devotion, and a cleaner story about what the Khanate is becoming.
Command from the center, survive from the edge.
At the heart of the Khanate.
You are a commander of ten thousand warriors, already inside Khanate rank, clan politics, war councils, victory feasts, and the burden of command. This route puts you close to Tengri culture as lived by its officers: duty, prestige, tactical authority, and the cost of being watched.
Use this POV when you want the Drift from the inside: respected, responsible, powerful, and still trapped by the machinery of honor.
At the fringes of Khanate society.
You are a Coyoti outsider from Concordat space, useful enough to be tolerated and visible enough to draw suspicion. This route follows the margins of the Drift: sponsorship, suspicion, tavern stares, lower-deck refuge, and the long grind from survival toward belonging.
Use this POV when you want friction, culture shock, underdog pressure, and the question of whether the Khanate can become home.
Both perspectives work for male or female player characters.
Choose your door into the Drift.
The Drift is the map.

Shagai is the Drift's common gambling game: quick to learn, political at high stakes, and social enough to start trouble in any tavern.
